The Brand Next Door

The LRD

So I get that the LBD has to be a staple in everyone's wardrobes. I actually have at least four LBDs myself - two for work, one for formal events and one for summer. And I am totally not opposed to adding more to my collection. They can be dressed up, down, accessorized and all of that, but they aren't bold.

And bold is bad in the best way.

Bold is bright. It's beautiful. It's red.

If you want to be major, if you want to be remembered, it's all about the Long Red Dress (LRD). I saw mine in one of my many trips to the downtown Seattle Nordstrom Rack and knew I had to have it. I made the mistake of hesitating, telling myself that if it was meant to be, it would be. When I came back the next day, it was gone, only to return the next week. I knew I had to grab it then. It changed the entire direction of Raz's and my engagement photos and, boy, am I glad.

I've always said people can call me a lot of things, but the worst thing they can call me is boring. The LRD avoids that, at least style-wise. Lupita Nyong'o proved it in Ralph Lauren just a few days ago at the Golden Globes.

I hope to prove it here. Let's push ourselves to be bold, to be better in 2014. I'm in, and I'm ready to show you what I've got.
