Never Been to Bainbridge

Talk about next door. I've lived in Seattle seven years now and had never been to Bainbridge Island. WHO AM I.

Raz and I had planned to go to Chelan to relive our wedding weekend for our first anniversary, but the 110+ degree weather ruined that idea. Mostly, we were concerned our house would turn into a sauna and we'd come home to two roasted cats.

So we decided to stay close to home.

Raz's former office is in the short building on the right I lovingly call the "turquoise titty"

I overheard someone at work talking about this huge rummage sale on Bainbridge that weekend and I considered it a sign. I like rummaging, and I like sales. I used to work for the Rack, after all.

But then we got there and saw this.

We went anyway.

It was hot and crazy and like a big outdoor Goodwill, but it was still pretty cool. I heard they played the national anthem at 7 a.m. and then opened the gates. I can't even imagine being in that throng.

We found some cool stuff, but nothing we needed.

And we got hangry so we went to find some sustenance.

Anything with a big umbrella and views speaks to me. Call it basic, I don't care.
We took the ferry up north instead of back to Seattle so we could hit the outlets and my BEAUTIFUL RESTORATION HARDWARE OUTLET THAT IS CLOSING THIS WEEKEND WHY.

This is how I always stand on ferries, windblown shirt and all. I promise my gut isn't that horizontal.

Was saving this shirt for a special occasion and got these Levi's shorts at Urban before our Florida vacation

I just love this place so much.

And this guy.

"Pruuuuune"
We hit port in Edmonds and then immediately went to find me ice cream. I was promised it at the ferry dock beforehand but we got there three minutes before we loaded on, so...angry ice cream-deprived Whitney.

Ombre water is one of the few ombres I can get behind.

GOT MY ICE CREAM  GELATO.

It's almost like we spent our first anni in Italy. Raz has promised to take me there one day, though

There's lots more to explore on Bainbridge. We found the cutest shops and had some pretty decent fish and chips. Whidbey is next on our list. On Sunday, our actual anniversary, we brunched and walked and ice creamed in true Popa style.

Cheers to heading to year two.
