30 in 2019 and The 11 Best Books I've Read So Far
In 2018, I read SO many amazing books. It felt like magic that all these fabulous stories kept finding me. I bested my goal by 11 books and was eager to dive back in to a higher goal in 2019.
This year, though, I haven’t been as lucky. Half of the 22 books I’ve read so far have been pretty meh, but! There have also been some real winners. I’m keeping track of the ones I think are worth buying here and since I’ve always been pretty anti book reports, I’m going to give you a quick hit list of the best ones I’ve read so far:
The beach read: Matchmaking for Beginners
The social justice novel: The Hate U Give
The quirky YA novel: Turtles All The Way Down
The autobiography: Small Fry
The British novel and a protagonist you’ve gotta root for: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
The history of an amazing charity and its founder: Thirst
The kinda self-help, but really helpful guide to finding professional fulfillment: Dark Horse
The BS-free guide to moving past self-imposed limitations: Unf*ck Yourself
The story of a therapist who went back to therapy: Maybe You Should Talk To Someone
Melinda Gates’s manifesto on empowering women: The Moment of Lift
The deep dive into the science and culture of pregnancy and motherhood: Like A Mother
I’m still reading at a pretty quick clip, so I’ll have more to add by the end of the year. There’s a good variety here, though, that fit lots of tastes. Check them out and hit up my DMs if you want to chat about any of them, and don’t be a stranger with your recommendations as well!
